    Purpose of the Trade Marketing Executive role: 

    We are looking for a Customer Trade Marketing Executive to join the Customer Trade Marketing Team, to assist with delivering our Customer Marketing Plan by collaborating with wider teams to execute best in class seasonal/promotional campaigns and promotions which help drive our key commercial objectives with an empathetic understanding of our customers to maximise profitability. 

    What you’ll do

    • Lead campaigns from start to finish. Project manage bronze / smaller campaigns, bringing different teams from around the business along the way, and making sure campaign deadlines are met. 
    • Develop a deep understanding of Ocado’s customer segments. Partner with our Insights Team and the Trade Marketing team, adding a customer focused lens to strategic briefs. 
    • Write strategic customer briefs. Write strategic, creative concept and overarching briefs for smaller, seasonal campaigns, taking input from a variety of data sources to inform the campaign strategy, along with collaborating with the in-house Eat creative team to develop a campaign identity and take this through to delivery across all below the line marcomms channels (CRM, social, PR, digital, print magazine and onsite). 
    • Measure campaign effectiveness. Once a campaign has been delivered, assess how well it worked by creating post-campaign analysis (working with Insights and various channel teams, as well as early insights from self-serve dashboards) and provide recommendations for improvement in the future. 
    • Support the customer calendar development. Assist the Trade Marketing team in the development of future calendar changes. This could be following up with key stakeholders ensuring required work is completed or owning last minute crucial reactive campaigns. 
    • Support on M&S relationship. Opportunity to support on coordinating and inputting on M&S-related campaigns. 
    • Build great relationships with departments across the business, in order to deliver cross-functional and best-in-class marketing campaigns. The purpose of this team is to be the central point  between many different areas of ORL – Marketing, Merch, Buying, Insights, Sales and marketing Channels.
    • Staying Ahead of the Curve: Keep up-to-date with the latest marketing trends, technologies (AI in the workplace) and best practices, particularly within the online grocery and e-commerce landscape. 

    Who you are

    • Always starting with the customer, to ensure planned promotions chime and capture customer engagement and attention 
    • In house strategic trade marketing experience at best in class retailer or ecomm platform beneficial
    • Commercial awareness and appreciation for how seasonal/promotional events drives results in digital / retail businesses 
    • The ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders across a vast range of departments within Ocado Retail (ie quickly able to establish rapport, manage expectations, plan ahead and have a topline understanding of how that department operates)

    As a Senior Buyer, you will have accountability for a specified category within the commercial buying team. You will be responsible for curating and buying your range of lines for our customers. Day to day, making sure it is optimised with your supply base, proactively using data and analysis to maximise performance to drive sales, profitability, and share growth to support the growth of the overall Ocado Retail strategy and goals.

    Wine in total is one of our largest categories, and it is going well for us, and we’re looking for a senior buyer to raise the bar even further. The area specifically selects and sells our White Wine (still) assortment. With loads of room to innovate and be at the forefront of trends, major key brands, and work with the M&S team on their range on Ocado. This role sits in our wider Beers, Wines and Spirits Buying team – a fast paced & dynamic team where there is a fun and collaborative culture, and one that is gathering major industry recognition for ability to spot trends in range and champion online selling, recent awards include IWSC Online Retailer of the Year, Drinks business Awards, multiple wins, including Retail Buying Team of the Year and recently as a wider buying team Ocado has come out top ranked (or won) the annual Advantage Group Survey as the top ranked retailer to work with.

    What you’ll do

    • Manage the category P&L and deliver against KPIs
    • Complete category reviews to refine range and align to the business and category strategy, and you work with our fellow Senior Buyer in Red Wine, Buyer in Sparkling, and manage Buyer for Rosé and Commercial associate in delivering their category reviews.
    • Plan and deliver trade, promotions, and events
    • Identify opportunities to drive customer penetration 
    • Identify opportunities to improve all-in margin, and negotiate with suppliers to deliver savings 
    • Negotiate with suppliers to agree and deliver market-leading plans aligned to the customer plan and category strategy.
    • Analyse and assess performance issues and opportunities using data and reporting tools, devise and implement solutions
    • Identify, analyse, and source first-to-market / Ocado exclusive product innovation using customer, market, and supplier insights to guide decision making
    • Ensure range changes are aligned with the category and business strategy
    • Work closely with merchandise planning and the supplier base to ensure best-in-class availability
    • Identify and create plans to mitigate potential issues/events that may impact supply
    • Work closely with suppliers and the quality team to ensure product quality meets Ocado's requirements
    • Adhering to all Ocado policies, storage and handover protocols, and completing all of your training so that you have zero GSCOP breaches. Ensuring all agreements are recorded in writing, reporting GSCOP complaints to Legal within 48 hours of receipt
    • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence

    Who you are

    • Significant retail buying experience and existing Senior Buyer experience required for managing and developing people.
    • Prior experience in Wines is key for this role for any external applicant is highly desirable, but it is a requirement for your candidacy to be considered for this role that you can demonstrate your knowledge and experience of the many differences that exist in a regulated, taxed and uniquely sourced area, whether it is EPR or Duty you know the challenges this brings, and know how to navigate this.  
    • It is alcohol and wine, so you know what WSET is and have at least Level WSET. 
    • Having a passion for product matters here; we want you to be the trend innovator for us and be seen as that. In the industry, you want to keep what is special about Ocado (Choice) at the heart of what you do. 
    • Strong Experience in managing a team, collaborating with Suppliers, and working with stakeholders is essential. 
      Proficient in Google Suite, well, it is hard to manage the P&L without it, but do you use Gemini, and if you can show us how you are embracing AI in how you work, that’s even better, but not essential, as we are learning ourselves.

The Legal and Compliance team is fully integrated across the whole business and we work closely with our colleagues to ensure they meet their strategic objectives. We are a small team, ambitious and curious, and we like to find innovative and commercial solutions to tricky legal problems.  The role of Legal Counsel is a key member of that team, reporting directly into the Head of Legal. This role provides commercial legal support including: advising and supporting the business on commercial contracts, data protection, general regulatory matters including consumer law, competition law and marketing guidelines, intellectual property and litigation / disputes.

    What you’ll do

    The Legal Counsel will support the business’s pursuit of its commercial ambitions in a legally compliant way.  Examples of the work undertaken by the legal team include the following:

    • Responsibility for providing day-to-day legal advice to the business
    • Effective business partnering which facilitates and supports proactive issue spotting and problem solving.
    • Reviewing, drafting, negotiating and advising on a range of commercial contracts, including data processing agreements, contracts for goods and services, IT and software contracts.
    • Advising on consumer laws and advertising and marketing laws.
    • Advising on GSCOP and competition law.
    • Advising on escalated customer claims.
    • Advising on litigation matters.
    • Developing and providing training to the business.
    • Develop strong working relationships with key business functions.
    • Remaining current with the latest regulations, trends and leading practices and responding accordingly.

    Who you are

    Minimum:

    • Qualified solicitor with post qualification experience as a general commercial lawyer. 
    • Sound commercial awareness and good communication skills.
    • Pragmatic, commercial and risk-based approach.
    • Flexibility and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
    • Ability to work to deadlines and manage competing demands from various stakeholders.

    Preferred (not required)

    • Consumer law experience, preferably Retail.
    • Experience of any one or more of the following areas: Competition law, Employment law, Groceries Supply Code of Practice, Data Protection.
    • Private practice experience.

    Based within the chilled, bakery & frozen buying team, this role is at the forefront of delivering great value, quality & innovation for the Ocado customers. The role is an ideal opportunity for a great buyer to expand category through a mix of new challenger brands and big market leading brands.

    • Manage supplier performance, identifying potential new suppliers, and support to build long term supplier relationships
    • Use insight tools to analyse and understand performance issues and opportunities

    Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the Fresh team, providing financial expertise and challenge to the commercial teams in order to deliver profitable growth for Ocado retail. This includes evaluating cost structures, tenders and joint business plans, as well as day to day trading decisions, like pricing and promotions

    What you’ll do

    You'll partner your functional area to support leadership make the right decisions, and play a critical role in identifying, recommending, and concluding on business opportunities to create value

    • Be the trusted business partner for the 2x Trading Managers and the Fresh Commercial Director
    • Support with providing regular, robust and insightful reporting around trade performance, understanding mix vs rate analysis and how the various brands are driving performance
    • Make complex financial scenarios easy for non-financial colleagues
    • Working with our data insight colleagues, cut through the data to enable better & faster commercial decision making, ensuring we provide our customers with the most comprehensive and compelling ranges
    • Work closely with the supporting function in the preparation and review of budgets and forecasts 
    • Play a key role in developing and following up on ‘gap closing’ activities to ensure performance is delivered in line with expectations
    • Support in annual business plans with suppliers to negotiate the best deal for Ocado, then monitor performance against agreed targets throughout the year, advising on course corrections if required
    • Own the forecasting process for your category, making forecasting accuracy improvements and enabling key trade drivers to be understood
    • Month end support by providing the central team with accruals and accurate supplier income outturn
    • Identifying and Implementing improvements to ways of working within the Commercial Finance Teams
    • Evaluating and challenging new product launches, promotional activities new proposals/existing business to ensure profitability
    • Participate in cross functional project groups
    • Providing ad hoc Finance support
    • Supervise and coach the SFA / analyst in the team leading them through

    Who you are

    Data is core to our decision making, and we have one of the richest datasets in the industry. The Data Science team develops models which turn our data into actionable insights. It is our mission to leverage data to give the best value and experience to our customers and suppliers whilst increasing profitability and growth for Ocado Retail.

    The Data Science team is responsible for understanding the complexities in the data, generating appropriate models to answer business questions, and delivering the outputs of these models to stakeholders in diverse areas of the business . It is our responsibility to work across functions to productionise these models so they are available to the right people, any time they need them. This could be in the form of a data table with the outputs of the model, or developing an interface to allow users to interact with the data in a way that allows them to leverage models for their specific needs.

    Our remit is to apply statistics, machine learning and artificial intelligence to our data at scale, and to do this we use Python, SQL, and the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). We are cross-functional by design, working with stakeholders across the business with varying degrees of technical expertise, meaning communicating complex ideas is core to the success of the Data Science team.
     

    What you’ll do

    Research, plan, and deliver the development of data science products for a variety of business areas. This will include creating statistical models and deploying them on enterprise cloud infrastructure, as well as interfacing with internal stakeholders to understand their business needs and communicating possible solutions.

    You will effectively communicate complex technical issues and findings to a range of technical and non-technical internal audiences.
     

    Who you are

    • Have a curious mind and a passion for learning new methods of problem solving
    • Have a methodical approach to explore every angle of a problem to be certain it’s completely solved
    • Have an undergraduate degree in sciences and further post-graduate study in mathematics, statistics or related field or equivalent industry experience.

    • Building strong relationships with internal teams as well as key suppliers, including M&S, to utilise supplier knowledge and help to identify upcoming category and mission trends to generate content.
    • Evaluate and react to competitors’ content initiatives.
    • Drive forward with insight into the metrics of success and tracking of impact of content, including clear input into CRO testing plan to continually test and learn.
    • Build and drive forward continuous improvement in overall content strategy, including processes to source, manage and effectively maintain content on site.
    • While this role does not have a direct team, the role would be required to matrix manage cross functionally across Creative, Commercial and Ecommerce to optimise both the customer experience and media opportunities.
