    Data & Insight

    Data & insight is at the heart of the Ocado retail grocery team – from advising the buying team on promotions to run and products to range, to understanding how our customers buy their weekly shopping, though to building models for new loyalty schemes and personalised marketing campaigns – data and insight are critical to everything we do. We want our analysts to become experts in their areas as well as have the skills needed to produce great insight. We therefore run regular training sessions on the key tools needed – choosing visualisations, presentation skills, SQL, VBA and more.

    Role Summary

    Are you smart and numerate, with a passion for understanding what motivates consumers?  Are you commercially astute with a passion for FMCG or Retail? Are you able to extract insights from data and explain complex problems in a simple and clear way? Do you have the commercial awareness to weigh up multiple factors when making recommendations? Are you great at managing multiple stakeholders?

     

    As a Supplier Insight Analyst, you will be a member of the Grocery Insight Team, dedicated to working collaboratively with one of our largest suppliers to learn as much as we can about our shared customers. How do customers decide what products to buy? How do they find them on site? What can we do to increase brand loyalty? The role will involve extracting, manipulating and analysing data to make critical recommendations both internally and externally.

     

    What you’ll do

    Extracting, manipulating and analysing data to provide critical management information to enable decision making on the key questions facing the retail team & suppliers.

    • Drawing out the commercial implications of pieces of analysis and provide concise summaries to senior management.
    • Writing SQL code to extract appropriate data from our Oracle and BigQuery databases.
    • Working directly with external stakeholders.
    • Working collaboratively with both external and internal trading teams to drive growth for both

     

    Who you are
     

    • Numerate and analytical thinking with experience in retail or consumer-facing FMCG
    • Commercial awareness and problem-solving ability
    • Curiosity about customer motivations and human behaviour
    • Strong communication, teamwork and influencing skills
    • Excellent Excel skills and experience with SQL
    • Strong communicator (both written and verbal)
    • Excellent stakeholder management
    • Numerate or Technical Degree (2:1 and above), with Mathematics A Level (or equivalent) Grade B or above
    • Tableau experience would be advantageous

    At Ocado Retail our Finance team plays a critical role in supporting the business to drive forward. Reporting to the Financial Reporting & Controls Lead, the Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing all tax-related matters for the company, ensuring compliance with all relevant UK tax laws and regulations. This role involves Corporation Tax planning, compliance, and reporting, as well as providing advice on VAT, Employment Taxes and Customs & Excise duties.

     

    What you’ll do

     

    • Tax Compliance and Reporting: You will be responsible for the preparation and submission of various tax elements, including the UK Corporation Tax return for Ocado Retail Ltd (currently using AlphaCT), quarterly Corporation Tax instalment payments. In addition, review the monthly VAT return before it is submitted to HMRC and provide advice on the calculation of the annual PAYE Settlement Agreement payment.
    • Tax Planning and Strategy: Advise on the tax implications of business decisions and transactions and working with external advisers to maximise Corporation Tax relief and VAT repayment claims, as well as ad hoc projects. Preparation of current and deferred tax forecasts for the Ocado Retail Ltd budgeting and forecasting cycles.
    • Tax Provision and Accounting: Work closely with the Financial Reporting team to ensure accurate financial reporting including preparation of the tax charge and tax disclosures for the Ocado Retail Ltd Annual Report and shareholder (M&S and Ocado Group reporting). 
    • Tax Risk Management and Governance: Maintain and update Ocado Retail Ltd’s tax risk register and work with the Financial Controls team to manage tax risk and comply with SAO requirements. Drive improvements to tax policies, processes and training of non-specialists. Work with the Finance Transformation team and external advisers to drive innovation through tax technology. Annual update to the Ocado Retail Ltd Tax Strategy.
    • Stakeholder Communication: Act as the main point of contact for stakeholders both internally and externally, including tax advisers, auditors and HMRC. Provide tax updates to the Ocado Retail Ltd Audit Committee annually or as required. Communicate complex tax information clearly to non-tax professionals.

     

    Who you are

    • Accounting and/or taxation qualification (CTA/ACA/ACCA)
    • Strong understanding of relevant changes to the tax compliance landscape
    • Technical awareness and understanding of current and future requirements.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word with experience of tax systems
    • Experience of grocery retail/FMCG is desirable, particularly VAT
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with key stakeholders, both internal & external to the business

    As Treasury Manager, you will combine hands-on operational responsibility with strategic project work, helping to deliver automation, improved reporting, and stronger risk management across the Group

    What you’ll do

    • Treasury Transformation: Drive technology and process improvements, including automation of cash flow forecasting, bank reconciliation, and other digital solutions (leveraging AI where possible). Re-engineer processes across Treasury, AP, and AR to reduce manual work and improve data exchange.
    • Operational Excellence: Oversee daily treasury operations such as cash positioning, bank reconciliation, and payment processing. Provide cover for the Treasury Analyst when required.
    • Reporting & Compliance: Deliver accurate and timely month-end and reports for senior stakeholders. Use data analytics and AI tools to strengthen controls, documentation, and reporting.
    • Liquidity & Cash Flow Management: Lead liquidity monitoring and continuously improve short- and medium-term cash flow forecasting using advanced modelling. Recommend optimal use of surplus cash through deposits, short-term investments, and broader investment strategy
    • Strategic & Risk Support: Support the Treasurer in developing and executing treasury strategy, and represent the function in audits to ensure strong governance and risk management.

    Who you are

    • Significant treasury experience
    • Qualified or studying towards ACT (Association of Corporate Treasurers) or another professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
    • Solid Treasury operations experience, ideally with exposure to systems projects.
    • Proficient excel skills, adept at spreadsheet compilation and analysis reporting.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to use technology and data effectively.
    • Comfortable balancing day-to-day with longer-term project responsibilities.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
    • Experience in fast pace environment

    Ideally, you will also bring:

    • Experience in project management (formal qualification or practical experience) and or Private Equity experience
    • ACMT qualified or currently studying towards it.
    • Experience with Oracle Fusion or other ERP systems.
    • Exposure to debt reporting and related compliance.

    We're looking for a highly organized and results-driven Vendor and Analysis Lead to play a vital role in driving the next stage of growth for our business. In this critical role, your primary responsibility will be to ensure we have the operational capacity needed to meet our business goals. You'll work closely with key suppliers and internal stakeholders to manage capacity forecasts, secure necessary resources, and monitor performance against our contractual agreements. This is a high-impact, high-stakes role with direct accountability for a significant portion of our operational expenditure. You will be directly responsible for managing relationships and performance tied to an annual spend of over £200 million.

    What you’ll do

    Capacity Analysis & Forecasting

    • Capacity Forecasting: Take ownership of both short-term (3-month) and long-term capacity forecasts. You will be responsible for translating business needs into clear capacity requests for our vendors.
    • Supplier Capacity Management: Act as the primary point of contact for key suppliers to secure and confirm the capacity we need. Your top priority is to ensure we achieve our capacity targets.
    • Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor and report on capacity achievement against contractual agreements. You'll be responsible for identifying and addressing 

    Vendor Management

    • Relationship Management: Manage relationships with a diverse range of third-party vendors, including key partners like Ocado Group.
    • Performance and Productivity: Monitor the performance, productivity, and efficiency of vendor-provided equipment (MHE) and technologies. This includes evaluating the achievement of business case goals for new technology deployed in our warehouses.
    • Contract Management: Ensure agreements are in place to secure the capacity guarantees we need. You will also be responsible for monitoring the performance of other critical contracts, including build contracts, infrastructure providers, landlords, billing authorities, and van finance contracts.
    • Issue Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve performance issues with vendors to ensure they consistently meet and exceed their contractual obligations.

     

    Who you are

    • MCIPS or CIPS qualification
    • Proven experience in vendor management, procurement, supply chain, or a related role.
    • Strong understanding of capacity planning and forecasting principles.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
    • Ability to analyse performance data and identify trends.
    • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
    • Experience in the logistics, e-commerce, or technology sector is a plus.

    About the team and the role

    The Incident Manager will be based in Sunderland and will work closely with the IT Service Management team and stakeholders across the business. This is a critical role responsible for owning and driving the efficient management, escalation, and resolution of high-priority IT, E-commerce, and new stack of customer application incidents across the organisation. This role reports to the IT Service Lead and is key to establishing a mature and confident Incident Management process.

     

    What you’ll do

    Incident Ownership and Drive Resolution:

    • Take ownership of all High priority incidents.
    • Drive the incident process through escalation and resolution, ensuring swift restoration of service.
    • Serve as the end-state owner for critical incidents to ensure fulfillment and successful resolution.
    • Escalate issues with external partners as needed, especially if delays or a lack of traction are encountered.
    • Work closely with the Service Delivery Manager’ to manage and prevent persistent P2 issues from escalating or "festering".
    •  On-Call: Participate in a on-call rotation to manage out-of-hours major incidents.

    Incident Communication and Stakeholder Management:

    • Manage all internal and external communication for critical incidents to ensure high visibility and context for all stakeholders, including senior leadership.
    • Initiate communication channels for P0/P1 incidents, inviting all relevant parties.
    • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on progress and resolution efforts.

    Problem Management and Continuous Improvement:

    • Oversee the Problem Management process for recurring issues, specifically for any trend of three or more related incidents (3+=Problem Record).
    • Ensure that a PMIR is completed after resolution of a major incident.
    • Identify and advocate for CSI plans to address underlying issues and prevent recurrence.

    Process Development and Governance:

    • Develop, model, and refine the Incident Management process, to establish robust use cases and a final, permanent process.
    • Contribute to regular governance meetings by reviewing service incidents and providing reports on platform stability and performance to senior management.

    Training and Mentorship:

    • Offer a developmental pathway for other support roles into Incident Management, emphasising triaging and understanding processes beyond standard playbooks.

     

    Who you are

    • Proven experience in an Incident Management role, preferably in a high-velocity, live trading environment.
    • Strong knowledge and experience applying the ITIL framework for Incident and Problem Management.
    • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to clearly manage and direct high-pressure, cross-functional incident response.
    • Ability to think quickly and maintain confidence and clarity in high-stress situations.
    • Experience or comfort with an on-call model for true out-of-hours coverage is beneficial.
    • Understanding of key support systems and applications, including Fresh Service (or similar ITSM tools), Salesforce/Google, and E-commerce platforms.

    We're looking for a Buyer to support our Produce department. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that your supply base and product range are optimised, proactively using data and analysis to maximise performance and drive sales, profitability, and share growth, supporting the overall Ocado Retail strategy and goals. Working as part of the Vegetable buying team, you will play an important role in delivering for the customer, alongside becoming the expert in the nuances of procurement in the fresh supply chain.

    Based within the Produce buying team, this role is at the forefront of delivering great value & quality on key customer essentials. Most of the category is own-label products, and you will be working closely with our technical teams, a few strategic supply partners, as well as the M&S Buying Team. This is an ideal opportunity for a skilled buyer to develop their own label, end-to-end sourcing skills.

    • Manage supplier performance, identifying potential new suppliers, and provide support to build long-term supplier relationships
    • Use insight tools to analyse and understand performance issues and opportunities

    The Senior Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) Executive will be responsible for the day to day operations of the CRO team and driving continuous improvement in on-site performance and customer experience through data-driven analysis, strategic experimentation, and cross-functional collaboration. This role requires a blend of analytical knowledge, project management skills, and a strong understanding of user behavior to identify friction points and implement effective solutions that enhance conversion rates and achieve business objectives.

    What you’ll do

    • Support the day to day management of the A/B testing and conversion rate optimisation, from briefs to QA, working closely with the team of engineering, UX designers and analysts.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional eCommerce teams to successfully implement CRO initiatives and manage stakeholder expectations.
    • Support the CRO Lead to maintain a comprehensive CRO testing roadmap, prioritising initiatives based on potential impact and business value.
    • Work closely with the CRO Lead and business stakeholders to align and implement the CRO strategy.
    • Create and deliver presentations to the business detailing new tests, experiences, key learnings, big wins, and the size of the prize achieved through CRO efforts. Develop best in class documentation for experiences, ensuring everything is clear and understandable. 
    • Proactively look for new opportunities developing data-backed hypotheses for A/B tests and other CRO initiatives based on on-site analysis and identified areas of improvement.

    Who you are

    • Experience using AB testing tools such as Optimizely or similar.
    • Experience in a retail or fast-paced environment.
    • Confident using online analytics tools for insights and reporting such as Google Analytics or similar and awareness of other tools such as Content Square or User Zoom.
    • Awareness of user research tooling and methodology, experience using Figma highly desired.
    • Experience using Project management tools such as Monday or Jira and understanding project management methodologies. 
    • Highly proficient using Excel / Google Sheets.
    • Ability to create clear presentations using tools such as Microsoft Powerpoint / Google Slides
    • Experience in a commercial business with awareness of how your role in the team impacts business KPIs.

    Retail insight is at the heart of the Ocado Retail grocery team – from advising the buying team on promotions to run and products to range, to understanding how our customers buy their weekly shopping though to building models for new loyalty schemes and personalised marketing campaigns – data and insight are critical to everything we do. We want our analysts to become experts in their areas as well as have the skills needed to produce great insight. We therefore run regular training sessions on the key tools needed – choosing visualisations, presentation skills, SQL, statistics and more.

     

    The Senior E-Commerce Insight Analyst role will be dedicated to understanding how customers interact with our website and apps. They will answer questions such as: Is our search algorithm working as effectively as possible? How do customers react to onsite events and content? How do customers use our app and how can we improve it? How can we make it easier for customers to shop with us? How can we increase the effectiveness of our site through personalisation? The role will involve extracting, manipulating and analysing data to make critical recommendations. We use data sourced from Google Analytics in BigQuery.

     

    What you’ll do

    • Interrogating internal databases to provide recommendations to the E-commerce team and Ocado Retail’s senior leadership. This will involve both shorter term, quick turnaround questions to help inform tactical decision making and longer term projects shaping the future of the E-commerce team’s strategy.
    • Visualising data and presenting insight and recommendations in a concise manner with presentations tailored to the technical level of the audience.
    • Build good relationships with key stakeholders to understand and deliver to their priorities.
    • Develop and maintain reports and tools to enable self-serving of data among stakeholders.
    • Monitor business KPIs on a continuous basis and provide suggestions on risks/opportunities frequently.
    • Develop area expertise to drive understanding of the best route forward, and help shape the team’s weekly actions and long term priorities to have the greatest impact.
    • Act as a subject matter expert with other Insight teams when projects overlap with other business areas.
    • Supporting junior team members, including quality control of code & recommendations and mentoring with stakeholder management & project scoping.

     

    Who you are

    Essential:

    • Experience working with databases or large volumes of data
    • Experience in visualising and presenting analytics driven recommendations to wide ranging audiences
    • Proven experience of data mining using SQL
    • Ability to drive projects forward and deliver to plan
    • The ability to communicate and influence at all levels
    • Excellent Excel skills
    • Numerate or Technical Degree (2:1 and above)
    • Mathematics A Level (or equivalent) Grade A or above

    Preferred:

    • Experience in a retail, e-commerce, or FMCG consumer-facing business
    • Experience with data visualisation software such as Tableau
    • Familiarity with Google’s wider data ecosystem (e.g. Google Cloud Storage, AutoML)

    • Competent and confident working on internal systems, spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

    About the team and the role

    The Senior Legal Counsel is a key member of the Legal and Compliance team at ORL, reporting into the Legal, Compliance & Risk Director.  Joining a six-person Legal team , this role is central to providing comprehensive commercial legal support across the business, and assisting in the development and execution of the legal strategy. Key areas of advice will include: advising and supporting the business on high value commercial contracts, data protection, general regulatory matters, employment law, competition law, marketing guidelines, intellectual property and litigation/disputes.

    What you’ll do

    • Review, draft and negotiate complex commercial / strategic contracts for all relevant business areas and operate with a high degree of autonomy in resolving complex legal issues.
    • Develop strong working relationships with key business functions including acting as a strategic advisor to relevant management teams.
    • Support the development and launch of new features, campaigns and commercial models by advising on compliance and legal issues.
    • Advise and support the business on data protection law, GSCOP, advertising and marketing standards and general regulatory and compliance matters, including interactions with regulators.
    • Help the business to make sound, risk-based decisions taking all relevant legal and commercial factors into account.
    • Manage disputes/contentious issues including tactics and strategy, active participation in settlement discussions or dispute resolution processes as appropriate.
    • Lead and manage the adoption of new legislation and legal frameworks within the Legal team and, as relevant, across the business. 
    • Assist with and deliver legal training to the business including in relation to competition law compliance. 
    • Providing guidance and support to junior members of the legal team on specific matters and projects.
    • Preparing know how on relevant legal/contractual issues and running training sessions to share know-how.
    • Creating and updating template documents and “playbooks” to make workstreams more efficient
    • Interact with law firms and manage outsourcing cost effectively and efficiently.
    • Remain current with the latest regulations, trends and leading practices, anticipating potential risks and advising on appropriate responses.
    • Support on IP, including managing the trademark portfolio, advising on infringement risk and licences.

     

    Who you are

    • Strong judgement and communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to collaborate and build relationships across diverse teams, and importantly influence stakeholders in a constructive and meaningful way.
    • Qualified as a solicitor or barrister with relevant experience either from a reputable  private practice firm or well-established in-house legal team. 
    • Broad and extensive legal knowledge with sound experience in commercial and consumer law, ideally in either retail, another B2C industry or eCommerce environment.
    • Experience or desire to work in a fast paced, dynamic and high growth business.
    • Ability to focus on and prioritise multiple matters concurrently and to work to tight deadlines.
    • A true commercial problem solver and enthusiastic decision maker. 
    • Excellent technical skills and ability to give clear and pragmatic advice.
