About us
Our mission is to deliver joy in every shop, through unbeatable choice, unrivalled service, and reassuringly good value. We’re also on a mission to empower our business with smart technology; we’ve recently launched our AI Academy, providing a tailored AI learning journey for every colleague.
We’re Ocado Retail, a market-leading joint venture between Ocado Group and M&S, and the world’s largest dedicated online supermarket, ocado.com. Not only is Ocado the only place to shop a full range of M&S food online, it’s also the home to the widest online supermarket range in the UK and champion of small, independent brands. We’re also the brains behind Zoom by Ocado, our same-day grocery delivery service.
About the team and the role
We are looking for a Senior Marketing Manager to lead our trade marketing and integrated marketing campaign delivery across the annual customer and trading calendar. This is a high-impact role designed for a strategic but hands on operator who thrives at the intersection of commercial ambition, creative marketing execution and consistent customer experience.
Reporting to the Marketing Director and working closely with the Brand Marketing Lead. You will lead the development of the integrated marketing calendar and campaign planning to ensure priorities are aligned and the operational delivery of our marketing plan is seamless.
What you’ll do
-
Trade Marketing: Partner with the Brand, Commercial and Merchandising teams to develop a robust yearly trade marketing plan that balances commercial and brand priorities. You’ll act as the customer marketing linchpin between channel teams, merchandising and commercial teams – ensuring we have a consistent drumbeat of customer and marketing activations that give customers more reasons to choose and shop with Ocado.
-
Lead the Team: Directly manage and mentor the trade marketing campaign team. You will lead your own events as well as oversee the creation of high-quality, customer-oriented activations. You’ll ensure high quality briefs that set the standard for our creative and channel teams. Working to embed new processes that ensure we deliver consistency across marketing channels.
-
Integrated Campaign Management: Lead and draft the major integrated marketing moments across the calendar, supporting the Brand Lead to develop a calendar of activations that improve consideration of Ocado with new and existing customers.. Co-ordinating delivery of campaigns across channels to ensure a seamless, “one-voice” customer experience.
-
Operational Integration: Own and run the Weekly Marketing Integration Meeting. You will be responsible for the joined-up operational delivery of the plan, identifying bottlenecks and ensuring all teams are aligned on upcoming milestones and priorities. You will also be responsible for developing the annual trade marketing calendar that aligns brand, commercial and merch requirements. You will actively present and deliver key updates at the monthly customer and commercial steerco meetings to ensure teams are aligned on priorities.
-
Stakeholder management: Responsible for managing and influencing key stakeholders across the business up to C-suite level. Through meetings, presentations to commercial stakeholders and cross functional forums.
-
Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as the key point of contact for Commercial and Paid Channel teams. You will translate commercial requirements into marketing reality, ensuring our trade activations are both brand-aligned and ROI-positive.
Who you are
-
An Expert Hands on Marketer: You have a proven track record in retail or e-commerce marketing, with specific experience in trade marketing
-
A Natural Collaborative Leader: You are passionate about developing people. You know how to get the best out of a cross functional team. Proven experience in managing and developing teams as well as embedding new processes and managing change
-
Stakeholder management: Confident presenter and communicator, adept at managing and flexing style to influence all levels of stakeholders, including those within our joint-venture partner, M&S.
-
Commercially Savvy: You understand the “why” behind the “what.” You can speak the language of Merchandising and Buying teams and translate their goals into customer-centric marketing plans
-
Operationally Rigorous: You love a process. You are highly organised and capable of managing complex, moving parts across multiple departments without dropping the ball.
-
Data-Driven: You use insights to inform your planning and are comfortable evaluating campaign performance to optimise future trade moments.
